With the new Wettenhalls head office at the Harcourt Road site due for completion in 2010, the company's IT department is finalising the development of the advanced IT systems that will be at the very core of its central operations environment. Over 4 times the size of the current building, the new head office will play host to what has been dubbed 'Mission Control', the centre that will oversee Wettenhalls' national operations.

At the very core of this new room are two key pieces of software being developed and integrated; 'Central Control' and 'MT Data', both of which will place Wettenhalls in a leading technology position within the logistics industry sector.

'Central Control' is an asset planning and performance monitoring programme that will allow Wettenhalls customers to observe and participate in the management of their orders.

In partnership with that programme, 'MT Data' is a near-time tracking system of orders through its GPS asset tracking (Prime Movers and trailers) capability. Our planning, performance measurement and near time visibility will offer our customers the most advanced view of their order status and activity; a great one-stop service feature for our customers.

These new systems, together with the 'Central Control' room will drive performance and service across the company and around the country. They will also reinforce the integrity of our service; at every stage our customers will have full control of, and full visibility of their account, including the ability to reverse bill, allowing for incredible accuracy and level of service.

Our GPS system allows for enhanced management of our entire fleet and dedicated sub-contractors, targeting fuel and time efficiency. It also offers the ability to directly download engine diagnostics and performance levels, allowing us to improve asset efficiency and safety across the fleet. Its time tracking capabilities ensures that we have instant visibility of driver time and place, and so are able to compare with stipulated Fatigue Management work plans. The system is core to our ability to manage and assure compliance with Fatigue Management regulations, and this also helps us deliver to one of our critical accountabilities within the Chain of Responsibility legislation.

Technology changes rapidly; however with a dedicated team of IT professionals and developers constantly working on-site, Wettenhalls is in a proactive position to influence and embrace changes for the benefit of our customers.
