High Mass & Fatigue Management Accreditation
Wettenhalls Group is fully accredited under the VicRoads' National Heavy Vehicle Scheme for both Mass Management and Fatigue Management, indeed Wettenhalls Group was one of the first companies in Australia to be accredited under the new Fatigue Management legislation, which introduced a raft of changes to the industry.
The new fatigue laws, introduced in September 2008 set revised work and rest limits for heavy vehicle drivers, and required better management of driver fatigue. Importantly, the reform introduced a supply chain of responsibility, where all parties are legally responsible for preventing driver fatigue, not just the transport company, and this new legislation directly affects transport company customers. Under the new laws for example, drivers must stop if feeling tired or fatigued, operators and schedulers must plan when drivers rest and loading managers must take steps to ensure queuing is managed.
As one of the first companies accredited under this new legislation, Wettenhalls Group is best placed to ensure all our customers are fully protected under the new Chain of Responsibility laws.
Wettenhalls is also Mass Management Accredited under the NHV Scheme, and again the goal of this accreditation is safety. As operators, Wettenhalls is responsible and qualified to ensure each and every truck (and other mode of transport) is correctly loaded, and that we are in compliance with road safety standards at all times.
In addition, our Mass Management knowledge and experience leads to overall improvements in productivity and efficiency and increased vehicle life and reduced maintenance costs, which benefits both Wettenhalls and ultimately our customers.
To ensure Wettenhalls is fully compliant with both Fatigue Management and Mass Management laws, and indeed all other relevant compliance issues, the company is annually audited by SAI Global, an internationally recognised company that provides independent assessment, certification and registration services for Standards and Compliance, such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points).
